ediator Yun-Seo
Former Cleric who became leader of the Danja (접신단자), the Suhodan subpath that works with the dead. She wrote the guidelines the Suhodan now uses for sanctioned Necromancy.
Name
Yun-Seo (윤서, “Gentle Omen”).
How she crossed over
Yun-Seo started as a Cleric. She crossed into the Danja practice after a field incident she discusses openly, if without enthusiasm. She was leading a cleansing ritual at a collapsed village, trying to banish the spirits there, when one of them spoke to her. Not the incoherent wailing of a restless ghost, but a clear, specific warning about a Maggi surge about to hit their position. She listened, pulled her team out, and the surge struck the village minutes later.
After that she spent three years studying under both High Cleric Eun-Ae and Grand Scholar Seul-Ki. Eun-Ae wanted her to approach spirits with compassion. Seul-Ki wanted her to document everything with academic rigor. Yun-Seo did both, and in doing so developed the guidelines the Suhodan now uses for sanctioned Necromancy.
Character
Calm, deliberate, and tired in a way that does not seem to be about sleep. People who spend time with the dead carry it differently, and Yun-Seo carries it as a slight distance. She is present and engaged, but there is always a piece of her attention somewhere else, listening to something the rest of the room cannot hear. She is patient with recruits who are frightened by the work and less patient with recruits who think it is exciting.
Role among the Danja
As the senior Danja, Yun-Seo sets the limits the practice operates under. She does not let anyone below the third level of the Crypts without her approval, because the Maggi there is thick enough that many of the old spirits are too corrupted for safe contact. Gisaeng (기생) channeling, inviting a spirit into your own body, is not taught to new practitioners; a recruit needs at least two years of standard Gut (굿) work before she will even discuss it, and she personally oversees every first attempt. She or a senior practitioner takes the consultation sessions when people from the city come asking after a lost loved one. She is also cited as the example of a veteran with a deep circle of spirit relationships: a new Danja might have one or two spirits willing to answer a Yeongso (영소) call, while Yun-Seo has dozens.
Her records are a point of friction. Seul-Ki wants the full Danja archive. Yun-Seo gives her summaries but withholds the rest, considering the personal details of the dead and their families private. Neither has budged.
How others see her
Eun-Ae supports her fully. First Shield Beom-Seok tolerates her because her warnings about Maggi surges have saved lives, but he considers the entire discipline one bad day away from something dangerous. Seul-Ki considers her a competent researcher.
