an-Gyeol (Restored)
The Seonhwa scholar who fell to the crypts and became Gloth, returned to himself by the Ssitgim-gut (씻김굿) and found afterward in a room where he records what he learned.
Who he was
Han-Gyeol was a devout follower of the five spirits and a member of great influence in the Seonhwa. He was the first to note that Maggi (막기) forms more strongly around areas of great emotional disturbance, loss, or sadness. That observation matches what the world holds true of Maggi as a meta-emotional force, drawn to grief and suffering rather than to fixed geography. His insight carried weight because of who made it, a scholar trusted enough in the Seonhwa to train recruits himself.
His descent into the crypts, the pillar fragment he reached for believing it a gift of the spirits, and his transformation into Gloth are told in full in the enemy file. He was struck by the source of the corruption itself, the same kind of broken-pillar shard that a transcending player or the Cheonmugwan takes in to become an avatar. After the restoration
The path back ran through the Ssitgim-gut, the cleansing ritual designed by High Cleric Eun-Ae. Once players gather the ritual items, defeat Gloth a final time, and perform the rite, the fragment is purified and Han-Gyeol is restored to himself.
He can then be found in a room players reach after completing the quest chain. There he writes down everything he learned, setting it down to help the Seonhwa in the days to come. The specific contents of those records are unspecified in the sources, which note only that Seonhwa was left to wonder what knowledge had been lost with him.
He is the clearest case of the Maggi grey zone. Killing the corrupted is framed as a mercy rather than the slaying of something purely evil, and Gloth was a person first who, with the right ritual, becomes a person again.
